It's Gandhi Jayanthi tomorrow.. yeah!!!!! holiday ............ today's a bandh (unofficial) .. yeah!!!!!!!!!!! one more holiday ... yesterday and the day before was the weekend.. yeah!!! vacation ........ Thats the way the elite look at it I guess ..
When ppl tell me, "This day is a Government holiday", I remind them "Then, its a holiday for the Government"
If the idea behind observing a strike is to not do what is normally done, then here is my idea .. lets work on Sundays as a mark of protest .. if the idea is to pay respect to Gandhi, then lets work harder on his birthday and for ppl who he really cared for....

well it doesnt work like that in India :-)
BTW i feel holidays and hard work go hand in hand. are you having an issue in the existing system.... so hear this...
Through Business Objects, i have the opportunity to interact with people in France and China and in my opinion France is the best place for holidays. They have more than a month of summer holidays where people just vanish from their current city and their govt requests employers to provider more holidays.. i also hear that french are more efficient in doing their work.
Right now it is china holidays between 1 to 6th Oct. Not sure why, their national holidays...
In India, employers try and stick to all govt sponsored holidays and festivals which come during the middle of the weak. they try and make sure we do not get as many holidays as possible. as a matter of fact we are tamed not to enjoy the holidays much (bangaloreans are exceptions though) and people spend as much time as possible @home. the other day i was reading Alai osai by Kalki, prior to independence people in India feaked out like anything in visiting other parts of country than now...
OK.. Lets enjoy our nov 1st holidays :-)
